Wimborne Health & Wellbeing Hub

Supporting Our Community’s Physical, Emotional & Social Health

Dorset Community Action’s Wimborne Community Centre has evolved into the Wimborne Health & Wellbeing Hub, a welcoming space designed to bring together a wide range of health and wellbeing services under one roof.

The hub provides access to services that support physical health, mental wellbeing, social connection, and community resilience. Whether you’re an individual looking for support, a group in need of space, or an organisation offering services, our hub offers a collaborative, inclusive environment for all ages, from young to older people.

We currently host a variety of regular public and VCSE-led services including:

  • Substance addiction support services
  • Youth services for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • Mental health drop-in support
  • Peer-led exercise, yoga and social wellbeing classes
  • Access Wellbeing service sessions (NHS and VCSE partnership)
  • Community meals, a food project, and social cooking sessions

With footfall reaching between 750–1000 people per week, we are proud to be a vibrant, flexible space that helps individuals and families in Wimborne connect with the right help at the right time.

Our vision is shaped by the NHS Long-Term Plan’s focus on delivering care within communities, so people can live the lives they wish to live, closer to home and surrounded by support.

Why People Choose the Wimborne Health & Wellbeing Hub

We’re not just a venue – We’re a catalyst for connection and care:

  • We offer co-located services to reduce barriers to accessing support.
  • We engage the local community, welcoming volunteers and users alike.
  • We provide affordable and welcoming spaces for classes, events, and drop-ins.
  • We partner with public sector bodies and VCSEs, making access to a wide range of support seamless.
  • Our team is responsive, compassionate, and deeply connected to the needs of the local community.

How the Hub Works

Our hub is built on a simple but powerful idea: bringing services together to make life easier for those who need them most.

Here’s how we do it:

  • Understand community needs through research and local engagement.
  • Offer a holistic, wraparound approach – our hub isn’t just a place to go; it’s a place to belong. From mental health check-ins to shared meals, we respond to the full spectrum of wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with external organisations (NHS, charities, councils) to deliver integrated services.
  • Support volunteers through training and development.
  • Work towards sustainability by blending grant funding with social enterprise activities.
  • Find our unique offering – a personal, community-rooted approach that builds trust.

We’re much more!  We’re a growing hub for connection, care, and co-working. Services, classes, and projects all under one roof.

Very grateful for the food, which is free. I don’t have to explain my circumstances here which I am very grateful for as I find my personal circumstances embarrassing to tell anyone. In other places I always have to explain which I prefer not to do, thank you.’
