Vacancy – Facilities & Project Support (Wimborne Community Centre)

Do you enjoy variety, working with people, and being at the heart of your community?
Wimborne Community Centre is looking for a Facilities & Projects Support person to help keep our centre running smoothly and support our growing community projects – with a special focus on our food waste and community fridge initiative.

This is a 14hrs per week position at £12.21 per hour.

About the role:

Working closely with the Centre Manager, you’ll play a hands-on role in the day-to-day running of the centre. No two days are the same – one moment you might be setting up rooms for community groups, the next supporting volunteers in the café or helping coordinate food pick-ups.

You’ll be a friendly face for centre users, tenants and volunteers, helping create a welcoming, inclusive and fun environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the general running of the Community Centre
  • Opening and closing the building and ensuring it’s safe and secure
  • Setting up, cleaning and preparing rooms for hirers and activities
  • Supporting tenants, centre users and volunteers
  • Helping run the Community Lounge, café and Community Kitchen
  • Coordinating, supporting and recruiting project volunteers
  • Promoting and marketing community projects
  • Assisting with food pick-ups for our food waste project
  • Helping build partnerships with local organisations
  • Supporting risk assessments, data records and basic admin

Who we’re looking for:
You don’t need to know everything already – we’re looking for someone with the right attitude, who’s happy to learn and get stuck in.

Why join us?

You’ll be part of a friendly, supportive team making a real difference in the local community – helping people connect, reducing food waste, and creating a space where everyone feels welcome.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!

How to Apply:
Send your CV and a covering letter stating why you’re a good fit for the role to our Centre Manager, Jayne, on Jayne.Wise@dorsetcommunityaction.org.uk
Closes Monday 16th February 2026.
