Vacancy – PT Fundraiser, Alpha India Foundation
Alpha India Foundation is a small UK registered charity set up in 1999 that founded and now manages a Christian children’s home near Chennai in India accommodating up to 28 children
It was set up by 5 trustees all of whom live in and around Bournemouth and Poole and it now has 6 local trustees. The trustees keep regular contact with the managers that run the home and also with the children.
Over the years the charity has built up a core group of supporters who make regular donations and this income has largely covered the day to day costs of running the home. There are some annual fund raising events which add to this regular support.
The particular challenges faced by the charity are
- The increasing complexity and costs involved complying with regulations regarding children’s homes in India
- The need to update transport and equipment on a regular basis
- The increasing level of school fees
- At present of course the threat of Covid19 which we feel could increase the already great demand for a home for children who are orphaned, destitute or in families who are in great poverty.
We are looking for a self-employed, professional and ethical fund raiser who can seek and apply for any grants which may be available from grant making charities or other organisations. An hourly rate of pay would be given and we anticipate that this would not involve more than 10 hours monthly initially but if the fundraising opportunities and the needs increase we would be flexible in our approach assuming reasonable success of the fund raiser. We could also agree the payment of a small incentive percentage of any amount raised. This position may develop to other aspects of fund raising if agreed by us all.
There are also links to another local charity providing clean water to villages in Uganda and conceivably the fund raiser could also work with and for them too.
