Are you a people-person with strong IT skills? As a Gateway Officer you will be people’s first point of contact with Dorset Advocacy, answering calls from social workers, medics and members of the public. Some referrals and enquiries are straightforward, but you will also be required to listen to and guide members of the public who may be living through extreme life challenges and / or mental health issues.
We are looking for someone with a background in social care or health, with a basic working knowledge of the systems and processes involved in these services, such as care assessments, best interest decisions, child protection or continuing healthcare funding. You need to be able to maintain strong boundaries and listen intently to peoples’ stories so that cases can be correctly allocated or signposted.
You will be given full training on the use of our casework database, which is a critical element of this role. Previous experience of using IT systems reliably and accurately is essential.
Closing date: Wednesday 23 September
Interviews for this post are provisionally scheduled for Wednesday 30 September.
