Dorset Advocacy is a local charity with a long history of helping some of the most disadvantaged and marginalised people in our communities. We make sure that peoples’ rights are respected, and their voices are heard.
We are looking for a confident and reliable administrator who has at least 2 years’ experience of the day-to-day running of an office, and dealing with the general public. We are rapidly improving our cloud-based IT systems for recording casework, HR, finance and internal comms; you will be using these systems, so a high degree of IT literacy is essential.
Holiday cover: An important part of your role will be to answer phone calls to our “Gateway”, which involves developing your knowledge about each of our Advocacy services so that you can triage enquiries/referrals and enter them onto our casework database. Full training will be given, but experience of handling complex or challenging conversations (in any context) is a “must”.
We are offering a competitive salary, some working from home (by agreement), an employee assistance programme (EAP) and a friendly, fast-paced working environment. Every working day is different, and you will have the opportunity to get to know all of our staff and to become knowledgeable about every aspect of our work.
[Please note; the time you spend on the Gateway cannot be worked flexibly, as it must fit in with the rest of the team. Please contact us if you need further details.]
Above all, we need you to be self-motivated, plan your time effectively, be keen to learn, and to be constantly on the lookout for ways to simplify our administration processes. You will have an interesting, varied and flexible role, with plenty of opportunities to develop your skills and make a real difference.
Closing date: Wednesday 23 September
