DCA ASSOCIATES – non-VCSE individuals, statutory and corporate bodies

  • Those whose primary purpose is party political
  • Not independent of Government and Not constitutionally self-governing
  • An individual (not working in the VCSE Sector in a paid or voluntary capacity)
  • A statutory agency, corporate body or business

Associates are not constitutional members of DCA and do not have voting rights.

Agreement & Guarantee

  • To be a DCA Associate a fee of £25 must be paid annually.  If the fee is not paid annually then the organisation/individual will no longer be an Associate of DCA
  • DCA will use the information provided on the Associate sign-up form for the purpose of correspondence between yourself and DCA,
  • DCA will not use the data provided in the Associate sign-up form for any purpose incompatible with the purpose for which it was originally collected.

DCA STANDARD MEMBERS OR VOLUNTEER INDIVIDUALS – organisations and volunteers providing services to people within Dorset and its environs

  • Independent of government and constitutionally self-governing, usually with an unpaid voluntary management committee (or where at least over half are unpaid)
  • Value driven and exist for the good of the community, to promote social, environmental or cultural objectives in order to benefit society as a whole, or particular groups within it
  • Not run for financial gain – re-invest any surpluses to further the good you create for the community and have an enforceable ‘asset lock’ to prevent private profit (e.g. if you are a Charity or Community Interest Companies you will have this in law)

  Agreement & Guarantee 

  • Confirms that it is in sympathy with the company’s aims and objectives
  • My organisation agrees to become a full member of DCA (Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee) and in doing so accepts that it thus becomes a guarantor of the company
  • Guarantors: Consistent with the requirement of the Charity Commission and Company Law, full members are required to give their written consent to act as Guarantors.
  • According to our Memorandum & Articles; the liability of the full members is limited.  Every member promises, if the Charity is dissolved while he or she is a member or within twelve months after her or she ceases to be a member, to contribute £1.00 (one pound) towards the payment of debts and liabilities of the Charity incurred before he or she ceases to be a member, and of the costs charges and expenses of winding up, and the adjustment of the rights of the contributories among themselves

  • Membership is open to any Voluntary, Community or Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector group working within Dorset and its environs
  • Membership is open to any individual working in the Voluntary, Community or Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector within Dorset and its environs
  • Memorandum & Articles available upon request
  • Voting Rights: Group members will be asked to nominate a delegate from within their own organisation to vote on their behalf on matters raised at the AGM. Delegate members may be nominated for election to the Executive Committee (Board of Trustees)
  • Membership Terms & Conditions: Once you have become a member your membership becomes permanent unless you do not pay your membership fee (if applicable) or you specifically ask to be removed. Please notify us of any changes to your contact details.
  • If member’s annual turnover exceeds £1,000 then the cost of membership will be £25 per annum.  If member’s turnover is below £1,000 then membership will be free.  Members declaring that their turnover is below £1,000 may be asked to supply evidence of their turnover.
  • Volunteer individuals who want to be members in their own right must register their membership in their own name and not in the name of the organisation they represent.  Membership will be free to qualifying individuals.
  • If members qualify for free membership then this will be automatically renewed on an annual basis.
  • If members qualify for paid membership then £25 must be paid annually.  If membership fee is not paid annually then the organisation will no longer be a member of DCA

Full Members will also have the right to receive notice of all general meetings, be invited to attend and to vote at these meetings.

DCA will use the information provided on the membership sign-up form for the purpose of correspondence between your organisation and ours.

If you unsubscribe from one part of our service, we will contact you to check you still want to remain a member and receive your ebulletin/email invites from us

Liability

The liability of the members is limited. Every member promises, if the Charity is dissolved while he or she is a member or within twelve months after he or she ceases to be a member, to contribute such sum (not exceeding £1) as may be demanded of him or her towards the payment of the debts and liabilities of the Charity incurred before he or she ceases to be a member, and of the costs charges and expenses of winding up, and the adjustment of the rights of the contributories among themselves.
