Excluded groups or individuals who cannot become full members include:

  • Those whose primary purpose is party political
  • Groups or individuals who do not promote equal opportunities or who practice discrimination
  • Groups with closed membership whose aims are to satisfy their members with no regard to enriching the wider community.
  • An individual (not working in the VCSE Sector in a paid or voluntary capacity), a statutory agency or a business

Full Members will also have the right to receive notice of all general meetings, be invited to attend and to vote at these meetings.

We are also pleased to offer individuals (not working in the VCSE Sector in a paid or voluntary capacity), statutory agencies and corporate supporters.

Associate Membership (FREE)

  • Receive bi-monthly VCSE sector & funding news E Bulletin;
  • Email invitations to all DCA training events;
  • Email invitations to all DCA hosted events e.g.; Funding Fair;
  • Opportunity to take part in VCSE sector surveys to inform provision across the county;
  • Opportunity “to get involved” through member consultation activities.

Associate Members do not have voting rights.

Full Members Agreement & Guarantee 

  • Confirms that it is in sympathy with the company’s aims and objectives
  • My organisation agrees to become a full member of DCA (Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee) and in doing so accepts that it thus becomes a guarantor of the company
  • Guarantors: Consistent with the requirement of the Charity Commission and Company Law, full members are required to give their written consent to act as Guarantors.
  • According to our Memorandum & Articles; the liability of the full members is limited.  Every member promises, if the Charity is dissolved while he or she is a member or within twelve months after her or she ceases to be a member, to contribute £1.00 (one pound) towards the payment of debts and liabilities of the Charity incurred before he or she ceases to be a member, and of the costs charges and expenses of winding up, and the adjustment of the rights of the contributories among themselves
  • By supplying us with an email address you agree that we can send you important updates electronically
  • As a full member of DCA the following details will be added to our website: Organisation name, telephone number & website URL (preferable) or email address and a short bio (if applicable)
  • Membership is open to any Voluntary, Community or Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector group working within South West England (our primary service areas is currently Dorset)
  • Membership is open to any individual working in the Voluntary, Community or Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector  within South West England (our primary service areas is currently Dorset)
  • Memorandum & Articles available upon request
  • Voting Rights: Group members will be asked to nominate a delegate from within their own organisation to vote on their behalf on matters raised at the AGM. Delegate members may be nominated for election to the Executive Committee (Board of Trustees)
  • Membership Terms & Conditions: Once you have become a member your membership becomes permanent unless you specifically ask to be removed. Please notify us of any changes to your contact details.
  • If members are on the Premium membership and fail to pay their fees they will automatically revert back to the Standard membership

DCA will use the information provided on the membership sign-up form for the purpose of correspondence between your organisation and ours, we may from time to time produce a contact sheet of members to be distributed amongst the members. 

DCA will not use the data provided in the membership sign-up form for any purpose incompatible with the purpose for which it was originally collected.

Liability

The liability of the members is limited. Every member promises, if the Charity is dissolved while he or she is a member or within twelve months after he or she ceases to be a member, to contribute such sum (not exceeding £1) as may be demanded of him or her towards the payment of the debts and liabilities of the Charity incurred before he or she ceases to be a member, and of the costs charges and expenses of winding up, and the adjustment of the rights of the contributories among themselves.
