EU Settlement Scheme – Time is running out!

Since Summer 2019 a small, dedicated team at Dorset Race Equality Council and Citizens Advice Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole have been working to support EU & EEA Nationalsthroughout BCP and Dorset to apply for new immigration status under the EU Settlement Scheme.

The EU Settlement Scheme provides a status for European nationals who want to continue to live and work in the UK post Brexit.  To be eligible for pre or settled status, EU & EEA citizens and their family members must be resident in the UK by 31 December 2020.  They will have until the end of June 2021 for finalising their application and status, but our funding for free help and advice ends in March.

So farover 2,500 local residents have been assisted to remain within the area.

We are keen to reach more people, particularly those who may be unaware that they need to apply to the scheme.

There are local residents who have lived in the UK for more than 30 years and think that they do not need to apply.  There are people who are too isolated and vulnerable to apply by themselves, and European families with children who were born in the UK but may not be British and who risk to become illegal if they do not apply.
