CLS in Dorset was funded by the Big Lottery Fund, one of 12 CLS programmes across England, from 2013 – 2016. The CLS programme explored a variety of innovative and integrated approaches to tackling climate change based on different communities and locations, supported by a Learning Partnership that included Groundwork UK, Energy Savings Trust, Confederation of Community Farms, and the Building Research Establishment.

CLS Legacy

Leaving a legacy was an important aim of the partnership through:

Sustainable Dorset hosting information on sustainability and climate change initiatives in the county, including events calendar and map of community initiatives.

Dorset County Council Community Energy team, supporting Eco Schools, Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Adaptation. For information on what you can do to help the environment go here. 

Dorset Community Energy, a CIC set up under the CLS project, successfully launching two community share issues to install photo voltaic panels on community buildings.

Dorset AONB developing a wood fuel supply chain for local householders as a development of the CLS Community Woodlands project.

Food Future Bridport continuing the promotion of local food in the Bridport community.
