Latest News Inspire Dorset, How does a Team Challenge support the unemployed?! Inspire Dorset are offering taster ‘Team Challenges’ to local organisations to enable their staff to have a better understanding of how unemployed people can benefit from the support the programme offers. Part of the support the ‘Inspire Dorset’ enterprise programme offers is the opportunity to undertake a ‘Team Challenge’. A ‘Team Challenge’ brings together a group of individuals to assess their local community and create a community project/enterprise which solves a local need. As part of ‘Team Challenge’ participants take a project all the way from an idea through to reality. The skills individuals gain from this process are transferable employment and enterprise skills along with soft outcomes such as confidence building, communication, team work and the skills to turn an idea or interest into an employment opportunity. Recently, ‘Inspire Dorset’ had the pleasure of running a taster ‘Team Challenge’ session to promote their programme with the staff from ‘Reach’; a Dorset drug and alcohol support service. The experience enabled the staff to have a better understanding of how their service users can benefit from accessing either one to one or group coaching sessions which support enterprise, business or idea development, employment support and working through life barriers. In groups, they were tasked to come up with a project/business/charitable idea that could benefit their community, then to begin the planning, marketing and launching of the Idea. The groups came up with a number of amazing ideas and expressed how the Team Challenge process and coaching support would benefit their service users and saw the positives of referring onto the ‘Inspire Dorset’ programme.
