Over 100 people enjoyed a celebration of Dorset community life and volunteering at last night’s Dorset’s Best Village Awards evening at Cerne Abbas Village Hall.

The competition, organised by Dorset Community Action (DCA), with Magna Housing as main sponsor, attracted 40 villages to enter, with a total of 51 entries, including for peoples award, environment and the new heritage category.

Okeford Fitzpaine took first prize for best Large Village, Briantspuddle was voted best Small Village, with Winterbourne Steepleton chosen as best hamlet.
