DCA and the Volunteer Centre Dorset are offering two new joint trustee training sessions designed to support trustee boards provide good governance.  Join DCA and VCD for one or both of the following courses.

Trustee Training – Being Effective and Compliant.

This is the second session in the new Trustee Training course from Dorset Community Action in partnership with Volunteer Centre Dorset.  The 3 hour course is designed to support trustees effectively fulfil their role and provide good governance.  Good governance is fundamental to organisational success. It enables and supports a charity’s compliance with the law and relevant regulations, and provides an environment for fulfilling the charity’s purpose.  The course will ensure participants understand;

  1.      Easy steps to being effective as a trustee and as a board of trustees
  2.      Decision making
  3.      Being legal
  4.      Managing Risk
  5.      Identifying and putting in place the right policies and procedures

This course is designed for trustees or committee members of all types of voluntary and community groups, from community libraries to pre-schools and lunch clubs. It will provide practical tools and essential information to support trustee boards provide good governance for their organisations success.

Date: 27th March 2019, 9.45am registration for 10am start through to 1.00pm (includes coffee break)

Venue: CLaRC, Wimborne

Cost: £45 pp for voluntary and community groups, £55 pp for statutory groups (early bird offer if both courses booked before the end of January £40pp for voluntary and community groups and £50pp for  statutory groups, so a combined total of £80 or £100 for both courses.

The first course is Trustee Training - Recruiting the right trustees

This 3 hour course from Dorset Community Action in partnership with Volunteer Centre Dorset, is designed to help trustees recruit new members and support the success and sustainability of their charity or voluntary / community organisation.  The course will ensure participants understand:

  1.       What a Trustee is and who can become one
  2.       Recruiting the right trustee(s) – Who, what & how
  3.       Reasons for recruitment & considerations
  4.       The legal responsibilities of trustees and the role they fulfil
  5.       Getting the most from supporting new trustees or developing a mutually beneficial relationship

This is the first of two new Trustee Training courses from DCA and VCD and is designed for trustees or committee members of all types of voluntary and community groups, from community libraries to pre-schools and lunch clubs. It will provide a useful refresher for existing trustees who have served on boards for many years, to ensure their knowledge is up to date as well as those new to the role.  It will also provide easy steps for trustee boards looking to strengthen their board by recruiting the right new members as well as practical tools and essential information.
