This 3 hour ‘Bite Size’ course, led by Dorset Community Action in partnership with Volunteer Centre Dorset, is designed to give trustees an understanding of what is expected of them in their role, the responsibilities they should be aware of and how to recruit new members ensuring the success and sustainability of the organisation they are responsible for.

This bite size course is designed for trustees or committee members of all types of voluntary and community groups, from community libraries to pre-schools and lunch clubs. It is a useful refresher for trustees who have served on boards for many years, to ensure their knowledge is up to date and it is also suitable for those considering taking on the role of trustee or as part of the induction process of trustees new to the role.

 The course will cover:-

  • The general duties and responsibilities of trustees
  • Specific roles – chair, treasurer and secretary
  • How to have an effective board
  • Key policies and procedures overview
  • Recruiting and inducting new trustees

Date: 7th March 2017, 9.45am registration for 10am start through to 1.30pm (includes coffee breaks)

Cost: £40 pp for voluntary and community groups, £50 pp for statutory groups
