Travelling Book UK page
This collection of photographs shows Dorchester Middle School pupil, 10 year old James Cooke, inside Dorchester’s main sorting office so that he could gain an insight to where the package (with the book inside) goes once it has been dropped in the letterbox.
He had the opportunity to observe postmen sorting post and dropping them into the appropriate mailbags and how they sort mail which is to travel further afield. He watched as a Post Office lorry arrived to collect mail which was placed in cages inside the lorry on it’s way to the railway station.
The small group of children in the photograph by the letterbox are James’s classmates and teacher Karon White whose contributions have filled the first 6 pages of the book.

The book finally left the UK for Holland last weekend, 16th February. Now we await news from Holland…………..
In this photo the teacher and pupils are joined by Nikki and Justin Cooke (right) who initiated this travelling book and Community Development Worker Kris Hallett (left) who, with Dorset Community Action, are tracking the book on its journey and co-ordinating emails, queries, information and photographs which might be submitted during the next 6 months, until it returns to the UK.
