Community Event Guidance
Here are some documents that may be useful when running a community event:
- Guidance to assist organisers of small events.
- Dorset Police presentation giving the Police perspective.
- Event Safety Guide which gives advice on health, safety & welfare at music and similar events. From the Health & Safety Executive
Local Library Resources
Local community champions and especially groups involved in Parish Plans were asked what would help them be more effective. They told us they needed more skills in:
- Consultation and participation
- Managing meetings
- Group dynamics
- Project management
- General confidence building of individuals to be more effective in groups.
So to help them we have a collection of training materials – books, files, DVDs, CDs etc. – that can be used by communities and frontline activists. The County Library service has kindly agreed to hold these stocks and they are available in some of the main libraries throughout the county.
The Libraries with the full collections are: Bridport, Ferndown, Gillingham and Wareham. Libraries with incomplete collections are: Blandford, Christchurch, Dorchester, Sherborne, Weymouth and Wimborne.
