Simon's role as Community Fieldworker includes working to preserve and enhance vital rural services such as post offices, shops, pubs and garages. Working with the Dorset Strategic Partnership, parish councils and other agencies he helps rural communities assess unmet need, through the funding and production of community led action plans. He is currently co-ordinator for the Dorset Village of the Year competition. Simon also has a strong interest in Affordable Housing issues and Community Transport and Social Exclusion issues. Simon is team manager for three other DCA staff covering play area development, research and community work.

Pauline’s specific area of work is Dorchester. Her main role is to support the Dorchester Area Community Partnership. Through her support of the local Area Partnership she also works to improve and sustain the quality of community life in Dorchester and the surrounding area. Pauline works part-time and together with Kris covers the whole of the Partnership area. Pauline can also provide organisational development / capacity building support to existing and emerging voluntary and community groups in the area, particularly those arising from the Dorchester Action Plan.

Bisi is based in Gillingham at the town council offices and covers Gillingham and surrounding parishes. She works with Three Rivers Community Partnership, Local community groups and Parish councils to support the north dorset community plan. Her work days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Brett works in Purbeck supporting community and voluntary groups.

Kris joined DCA in June 2006. Her specific area of work is Dorchester and the surrounding rural areas. She is available to help community and voluntary groups and organisations with setting up initiatives, supporting current projects and working with anyone who is thinking of setting up something entirely new. Kris is employed full time, so as well as helping to support Pauline’s part time role in Dorchester, she covers most of West Dorset. As well as supporting community activists with their projects, she also supports the developing of Parish Plans – through to completion – and larger scale projects such as play areas and skate parks, about which she has specialist knowledge. She can provide ‘hands on’ help at events and activities.  Kris delivers training to teach people how to face paint so groups can use this skill in their fundraising activities.

If you are involved with a group of people and feel you would like to make a difference in your community - Kris is here to help. She can offer networking opportunities, such as the quarterly Dorchester Area Community Lunch, with likeminded groups, other people and organisations that might need to be involved with your project (such as Statutory bodies).

Katy works part time on the Voice Project, that supports 3rd Sector themed forums, linking to the Dorset Strategic Partnership.  In addition her role is to signpost and support voluntary and community groups in having a 'voice' and involvment at all levels of decision making.

As Chris works county-wide, she has a substantial workload, however, she works alongside Dorset's other Funding Advisers; Mary Hubbard at Dorset County Council; Lyn Pullen at Poole CVS; and Christine Stone at West Dorset District Council; so advice should be easily accessible.
