Welcome to Dorset's Third Sector Infrastructure Group
3SIG is a partnership between Dorset's third sector infrastructure organisations who provide a range of support to frontline voluntary organisations and community groups in Dorset. These organisations work together to plan, develop and deliver appropriate support services to Dorsets Third Sector.
What are infrastrucuture organisations?
Infrastructure Organisations (mostly charities in their own right) main purpose is to provide support to other third sector groups; they provide the core of support services to the voluntary and community sector and include generalist infrastructure organisations like Councils for Voluntary Service and Volunteer Centres as well as organisations that specialise in certain sub-sectors (dedicated to youth / environmental / faith groups etc)
Who are the members of 3SIG?
3SIG member organisations offer a range of general and specialist support services to new and established third sector organisations including: funding advice, developing new organisations, recruiting and managing Volunteers, training, developing good practice, policy response, respresentation, campaigning and lobbying.
Dorset Community Action - supports the development of the voluntary sector through information, networking, representation, building capacity, and filling gaps. It supports local communities interests on topics such as transport, community facilities, regeneration, sustainable living and social issues, developing services in response to local needs.
Volunteer Centre Dorset - help voluntary and community organisations recruit and manage volunteers, and help people interested in volunteering to find interesting and enjoyable opportunities.
Dorset Youth Association - supports and develops high quality youth work and educational opportunities for young people throughout Dorset.
Churches Together in Dorset - provide information to support the Churches and their combined activity in Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole.
Dorset Race Equality Council - campaign and fight against racism, lobby for equality and work with all agencies across Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole for social justice and good community relations.
da21 - da21 works with local people, communities, the voluntary sector, local goverment and business to encourage and
support action on sustainable living and climate change across Dorset.
